Victim Offender Reconciliation Program (VORP)

We serve both juvenile and adult General Sessions Courts by providing VORP mediations to clients who have  charges in these courts. There is no cost for these mediations in accordance with the Tennessee State Legislature.

Parent Access and Visitation 

We serve parents, their children, and the Juvenile Court by mediating issues of custody and visitation for parents who have never married. These mediations are offered on a sliding fee according to the clients’ ability to pay. We also provide parenting mediations for divorcing parents and their attorneys.

Community Mediations

We offer affordable mediations that settle neighborhood, community, workforce, and school conflicts, in addition to disputes between individuals and groups.

Education

We offer training in handling conflicts peacefully to the groups within the community.

Volunteers

We train and certify volunteers to mediate. New mediator training involves two days in the classroom plus observation of actual mediations.  We also assist State-listed Rule 31 mediators in meeting their pro bono requirements by volunteering their time.

Hispanic Outreach

SMS is dedicated to making mediation familiar and available throughout the Hispanic community. We provide bilingual mediations and information.
